By now, you've probably picked out your Halloween costume, you know how to trick or treat, and are ready to collect ten pounds of candy from houses nearby. However, do you know how to trick or treat safely or tips to protect your HOME? Whether you are a curious kid, or a cautious parent of an enthusiastic trick or treater, it's never too late to pick up a few tips!

Tips for HOMEOWNERS

1. Turn off your alarm before trick-or-treaters arrive

2. Put your pets in a closed room

3. Turn on outside lights

4. Sweep your driveway and walkway

5. Don't place decorations on sidewalks

6. Park your car in the garage

7. Use LED-lit candles instead of real candles

8. Tone down the scary decorations

9. Avoid homemade treats 

10. Don’t put off home improvements 

11. Take pictures of your property before festivities begin 

12. Keep an eye on your front door 

13. Turn your alarm back on before you go to bed. 


Tips for your kids

1. Carry some form of illumination at all times

 2. Plan out your trick or treating route before Halloween

 3. Trick or treat in groups

 4. Wear comfortable footwear 

5. Make sure the mask is comfortable  

6. Dress according to the weather 

7. Check suspicious candy 

8. Avoid unlit houses
